Joining HOSAR is a rewarding way to serve, learn valuable skills, and be part of a dedicated emergency response team. 

Membership Requirements

To be considered for membership, applicants must complete the following steps:

1. Complete the Membership Intake Application (Downloadable file below)
   Fill out the application in its entirety and submit it to:
   onboarding@HOSAR.org
2. Background Check
   All applicants are required to undergo a criminal background check. Please review the background check info sheet provided below before applying. 

Required Training and Certifications
All HOSAR members must complete the following safety and emergency training courses:

1.  CPR / AED / Basic First Aid & Stop the Bleed 

• Provider: Heber‑Overgaard Fire Department (HOFD)
• Schedule: First Saturday of each month
• Cost: $45
• Format: Hybrid training
• After payment, participants receive access to the online portion of the course.
• The online coursework must be completed prior to attending the in‑person training at the HOFD fire station

1. FEMA ICS 700, ICS 100 (https://training.fema.gov/emiweb/is/icsresource/trainingmaterials/ )

• Provider: FEMA Emergency Management Institute
• Cost: Free
• Format: Online, self‑paced courses
• Access: Training links will be provided after application submission.

Unit‑Specific Requirements

Some HOSAR units may have additional physical requirements and may require further 

certifications or specialized training depending on the role.
